Racking Inspections

Pallet Racking inspections are a a vital part of the safe running of a warehouse and is a statutory requirement under Health and safety Legislation.  This inspection should be carried out at least once a year by a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector “SARI.”   It is also advised that a inspection is carried out with configuration changes or at the end of a new racking build project.  Pallet Racking is classified under PUWER regulations for work equipment and such requires regular maintenance and inspections carried out by a suitably qualified person.

Why Racking Inspections are needed?

Damages to racking can ultimately lead to system collapses which is not only very costly stopping production, damage to stock and also HSE Fines, but more so that it can endanger peoples lives both staff and visitors!  Without a Racking inspection you may find that you are not covered by your insurance company.  These inspections can be formally requested by your Health & safety Auditor, Insurance company or HSE.  Having annual racking inspections can help reduce maintenance bills as well help improve safe working methods and internal inspections and methods of reporting damages.
